Nail ArtWhen I was growing up smartphones weren’t invented yet, nor were Xbox, social media or home computers. To keep me and my sisters busy on rainy days when we couldn’t go outside we would do crafts. This was in the 1970’s and crafting was very popular then. We created everything from macaroni pins, to sand art, latch rugs, wrote our names with rope and probably any other arts and crafts project you can think of. My favorite project from back then was always nail art. You would follow a pattern and hammer a bunch of small nails into a board. When the hammering was finished you would twist yarn between the nails forming a beautiful picture when you were finished. We would create owls, sunsets, ships and any other pattern we could find. I wanted to revisit that lost art with our nail art collection. These designs were digitized in the same manner as traditional nail art. Each color of thread goes from one point to the other to simulate the real thing. We simulated the nails with satin stitch dots. I hope this collection is enjoyable to wear or embellish home decor items and brings you a little bit of nostalgia as well. |
