Half-square units:
• Determine the finished size of the unit. (4” finished half-square units needed)
• Add ½” to the finished size for strip cut size (i.e.: 4 ½” for 4” finish)
• Cut fabric strip to determined size.
• Add ½” to the finished size for strip cut size (i.e.: 4 ½” for 4” finish)
• Cut fabric strip to determined size.
• Position top edge of ruler along top edge of strip:

• Flip ruler 90 degrees: cut.

• Position triangles right sides together, matching blunted corners.
• Stitch using ¼” seam allowance.
• Stitch using ¼” seam allowance.

Quarter-square units:
• Determine the finished size of the until. (ie: 8” finished quarter square units needed).
• Divide finished size in half (i.e.: 4”), add ½” for strip cut size (4 ½” for 8” finish).
• Cut fabric strip to determined size.
• Divide finished size in half (i.e.: 4”), add ½” for strip cut size (4 ½” for 8” finish).
• Cut fabric strip to determined size.

• Position quarter square corner of ruler at the top edge of strip; cut both edges.

• Flip ruler 90 degrees: cut

To stitch units together:
• Position two of the triangles right rides together.
• Stitch using ¼” seam allowance.
• Repeat for second set of triangles.
• Press seam allowances in opposite directions, position pieced units rights together, nesting the seams.
• Stitch using ¼” seam allowance.
• Repeat for second set of triangles.
• Press seam allowances in opposite directions, position pieced units rights together, nesting the seams.
